Introduction to Corporate Social Reponsibility (CSR)

CSR refers to the way in which we regulate ourselves as a business to ensure everything we do has a POSITIVE impact on society, as well as the Nail Order community, and nail industry as a whole. Nail Order's CSR policies aim to guarantee ethical workplace practices, ethical business practices and a promise of inclusivity regarding the social, economic and environmental impacts of our business. Nail Order are commited to ensuring that any business undertakings are conducted as ethically as possible by following he below policy.

How We Look After Our Employees

At Nail Order our staff's wellbeing and creating a positive work environment is one of our top priorities. To achieve this we implement the following workplace structures and rules:

 

  • Exceeding Equal Opportunities legislation as Employers as per requirements by the Human Rights Act 2010: Our staff have freedom of speech and peaceful protest, with a right to speak & express views freely and join with others peacefully. We have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination, meaning that gender, race, disability, sexuality, religion or age discrimination is not be tolerated at any level.
  • Modern Slavery Act 2015: Nail Order does not facilitate the act of Slavery, Servitude, Forced or Compulsory behaviour, arrange, or facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, or commit any criminal offenses.
  • All Members of Nail Order staff are inducted into the company with necessary health and safety policies and procedures. Additionally, all staff receive adequate training for the job role they are required to do, as well as Nail Anatomy, Chemistry and Gel Enhancement training, for a comprehensive understanding of the nail industry and products sold within the business. Staff receive quarterly appraisals and the opportunities to discuss career advancement and personal development prospects.
  • Staff are paid correctly and on time. Wages distributed exceed the National Minimum/ Living Wage. Eligible employees also receive a pension plan, as well as other benefits such as private healthcare and staff discounts.
  • Nail Order have a diversity consultant (Laura Parisi) who ensures that Nail Order understand best practices to maintain the companies promise of inclusivity, ensuring good relations with employees and inclusive practices towards minority groups. HR manager (Rebekka Costello) ensures that any issues that are raised by staff are dealt with appropriately. Rebekka oversees Nail Order’s recruitment process, as well as working closely with the diversity consultant to ensure the team is a diverse group from various ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, disabilities/health/mental health conditions.

How We Look After Our Customers

 

At Nail Order our customers are also a priority. We ensure that our customer service standards are excellent, providing a long lasting impression of our business.

  • The Nail Order team reply to every email and message sent via social media platforms to ensure any queries customers have are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Each product sold by Nail Order has been appropriately lab tested to ensure safety for use. Nail Order have also passed the 2023 Trading Standards audit, therefore all Nail Order products are compliant and fit for purpose.
  • We provide free education to customers via Youtube videos to ensure that products we sell are being used correctly. We also offer a variety of online and face-to-face courses available to purchase on the Nail Order website.

 

How We Look After The Environment

  • We are committed to monitoring waste reduction, reusing and recycling where possible in the warehouse department. This involves using recyclable packaging made from cardboard, paper tape, paper bubble wrap, etc. We also reuse any packaging that we receive during deliveries, as well as pad orders with packing peanuts that can be easily dissolved in water.
  • We partnered with Ecologi on April 22nd 2022 to work towards becoming a net zero company, offsetting our carbon footprint by planting a tree for every order at no additional cost to the customer. We now have almost 40,000 trees in the Nail Order forest.

How We Engage With The Local and Wider Nail Community

  • As a business, we try our very best to do our bit to support local communities and charities. Here are some examples of some work we have previously done at Nail Order:

  • We continually support the surrounding community by employing local people, as well as participating in community involvement by donating prizes for local raffles and hosting free education events for local nail techs.

  • We are committed to working with a variety of influencers/ content creators with a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, and disabilities/health/mental health conditions.

 

At Nail Order we take our social responsibilities very seriously. With our brand mission statement being “inclusivity over exclusivity” it is of the utmost importance that we live by this motto and hold ourselves accountable to ensure that we are continuously fulfilling the outlined corporate, and social responsibilities.

We pledge to ensure that during every conversation about new projects -be that which content creators we may want to work with or new product launches- diversity and inclusivity discussions are part of the conversation to ensure minority groups are appropriately included in our plans.

At the time of this statement, we are still a relatively small business with a team of 4 full-time and 13 time part-time employees, however, with our plans for growth we pledge to maintain the integrity of our company motto and always ensure that Nail Order’s promise of inclusivity -in every aspect- is upheld.
