Builder in a bottle Vs Builder in a pot

Builder in a bottle Vs Builder in a pot

Believe it or not builder gels were always traditionally sold in pots, likely due to their sticky and viscous nature making them easier to get out of a pot than a bottle.

Builder in a bottle Vs Builder in a pot

Builder gel in bottles, often referred to as “builder in a bottle” or “BIAB,” is a relatively recent innovation in the nail industry. This product has gained popularity over the past few years, particularly from around 2018 onwards.

In the Mid to Late 2010s the nail industry saw a growing trend towards making professional nail products more user-friendly and accessible to a broader market, including DIY enthusiasts. This period marked the beginning of innovations aimed at simplifying the application process.

2018: Introduction of Builder Gel in Bottles

Circa 2018: Builder gel in a bottle (BIAB) started to gain traction. This product offered the strength and durability of traditional builder gels but in a more convenient, easy-to-apply bottle format with a brush, similar to regular nail polish.

So why are we working backwards?? Truth be told we believe that builder gels are much better suited to a pot as, whilst the bottle with accompanying brush serves as a handy all-in-one option, the fact is that a lot of product is being wasted. We see so many videos of nail technicians decanting nearly finished bottles of builder gel into pots, but even after this, the sticky nature of the gel means that there I a few sets worth of product still stuck to the inside of the bottle. Pots allow for a much more economical use of the gel as you can scrape every last drop out, In addition, the use of a gel brush can actually lead to better retention.
